Survivor began their career playing in Chicago bars and pizzerias from 1978 to 1980. It turned out that the plane they were travelling in crashed, killing most of his band đŹÄŻrom that moment on, Peterik was known as âthe survivorâ, a name he would use for his next band, Survivor. It was 1974 and Jim couldnât go for personal reasons. The band was invited to play a concert in Minnesota. Jim Peterik was the lead singer and guitarist of a band called The Ides of March. Their story begins in Chicago in the late 1970s. The song conveys that feeling of never stop fighting!

In the film Rocky was getting rich, he lost interest in competing and Apollo Creed, his greatest competitor and friend, told him that he had to regain the âEye of the Tigerâ. đ What does Eye of the Tiger mean? The eye of the tiger is a metaphor for the inner struggle of each person. Survivor did it, they recorded a demo and the work was finished. When Stallone heard it, he liked it a lot, although he suggested that the drums should be louder and that they should add a 4th verse. In 1 day, they had almost finished the song. Peterik and Sullivan started composing the legendary guitar riff which, if you notice, goes to the rhythm of Rockyâs punches in the film. What almost nobody knows is that â The Eye of the Tigerâ was not the first song that Survivor composed for Rocky III, but the second, because Sylvester didnât like the first composition, a ballad called â Ever Since The World Beganâ. With some reluctance, in case it leaked, Stallone sent it to them. The bandâs songwriters, guitarist Frankie Sullivan and keyboardist Jim Peterik, asked him to watch the film for inspiration. He had heard some songs by the band Survivor and loved them, so he called them up and commissioned them to do a song. Also contributing to the decision was that he was denied the rights to use the song he had originally chosen, Queenâs â Another One Bites The Dustâ. He thought a new, unreleased song would be best. đ How did Eye of the Tiger come about? Stallone wanted a song for Rocky III that would connect with young people. The years have gone by, over 40 to be precise, and it is still the most motivational song I have ever heard, as well as being a pop culture icon and the most used song in gyms, as we tell you below.

It was 1982 when Survivor, an American rock band, released the single â Eye of the Tigerâ as a commission from Sly (Sylvester Stallone) for the third part of the Rocky saga.
